Much of my work has focused on seventeenth-century France, but I have written extensively on the eighteenth century and also teach courses that traverse the period (e.g., History of Witchcraft, 1500-present). It is clear to me that the field of Eighteenth-Century Studies has over the last several decades generated some of the most interesting, innovative and provocative historical scholarship, work that has sometimes served as a model for my own research.
