He is most recently the author of Engaging the Ottoman Empire: Vexed Mediations, 1690-1815 (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2018). His previous book, Entertaining Crisis in the Atlantic Imperium, 1770-1790 (The Johns Hopkins University Press, 2011), received Honorable Mention for the Joe A. Callaway Prize from New York University. His first book, Staging Governance: Theatrical Imperialism in London, 1770-1800 (The Johns Hopkins University Press, 2005), received Honorable Mention for the Bernard Hewitt Prize for Excellence in Theatre History from the American Society for Theatre Research.
